As a neat perspective to NakedFest this year, I was able to get first-timer Jeffrey Egan to write about his thoughts right before he leaves for the campground. This will be a two-part series. In this first article, he will tell you about what he is feeling and plans to experience before NakedFest starts. In the second article, Jeffrey will tell you about his feelings when he gets home from the Poconos. He will let you know what he ended up doing and how the event ended up meeting his expectations. So enjoy part 1 and stay on the lookout next month (September) for part 2. Thanks BuffBuzz readers!!
Hello Naked friends! NakedFest is upon us very soon. I started going over my checklist and packing today for my first NakedFest experience. Packing is pretty easy; no need for pants. Before I talk more about how I'm feeling about NakedFest, let me tell you a little about myself. I've been a naturist all of my adult life. Even when I was a kid, I looked for reasons or chances to get naked. For example, when my parents left me home alone, I was in our backyard in the woods naked. Or friends playing in the woods would say "it's hot! Let's go for a dip in the stream." I'd be naked in the water and the others would usually join in too. And if a neighbor was gone on vacation, we'd use their pool. Whenever I got the chance to get naked, I took it. I still hardly ever wear clothes at home and seek out clothing optional locations for vacations. I'm fortunate to now live in Vermont where there is no shortage of clothing-optional swimming holes.

I have been aware of the GNI Gathering for years. Unfortunately, I had not had the opportunity to attend until this year. Expectations are high of course with nothing much happening in over a year and an almost 30-year history of GNI hosting Gathering-type events annually. I'm very sure NakedFest will not disappoint. The classes and events planned look amazing and very diverse. There is something for everyone. I'm going to try to get a little bit out of my comfort zone and try some new things. I'm intrigued by some of the LeatherWerks workshops. And since I had a friend once ask me, "how can you be gay and not dance?", I'm going to give line-dancing a try. Yoga, wrestling, volleyball, running, massage, and doing it all naked? What's not to like. My philosophy is everything is better when done naked and with chocolate. Maybe that could be a future class? Life penis castings in chocolate. Make one of your own or a friend.

Of course with the crazy year and a half we have had with COVID, I have gained the dreaded extra 20 pounds or so. I'm definitely not going into this looking my best. And I have been pretty isolated over the last 16 months. I hope I can still be fun and entertaining like I used to be. I'm also hoping to come to terms with my new dad bod. But I am looking forward to making some new friends and maybe get motivated to get out more and try some new things. I hope to meet all you beautiful nude men at NakedFest. If you see me, say hi.
See you soon,
Jeff Egan
Outside of a friend's house after a bit too much sun in 2010. Make sure you lotion the tender bits; this sucked. |
